30 day shred - day 1

Started the day very well today, I've just completed Level 1 of the 30 day shred and signed up to weight watchers monthly pass...again.
I'm going to go back to the meetings i used to go to. I loved them and did so well.
Obviously people will be skeptical about  me doing it AGAIN, but it has to work!!

Have had a chat with my lawyer friend about my pay/contract, so have been in touch with my boss. I'm yet to hear from him, but i'll keep you guys posted!

A productive day...mainly

Had a productive morning in the office.

However, i've now realised I'm earning less than minimum wage. Which really annoys me, especially as i've asked for a pay rise previously. Got my kick ass employment law buddies checking out my contract. I'm a bit worried as it came up in conversation with some of the mums at the pool, and they were annoyed and shocked i was getting paid so little for the huge amount of work i do. Then my boss was talking to them, and i think they mentioned it to him. I think hes going to want to see me tomorrow and tell me off.
Feel like i'm always screwing up, but i really do work so so hard and come out with such a pittance of pay. I teach private lessons, cover group lessons, sort out all the admin, deal with all the crap from parents and come out with less than the teachers.

Urgh....just pees me right off that I work so hard, and there are scummers out there who do sod all and get more money than me to live on. Dont get me wrong I love my job, but i feel i deserve more.

On a more food related thing, today has been a good day. Made a tasty Quorn chilli for tea served with rice and lettuce. Was yummy!
Also I rode my bike to the office, to the pool and home again.

so yea, the day has ended well!
Hope you are all well :) xx

Another day, Another positive start!

Finally think I might be getting this jet lag sorted. Am up before 9, so hopefully will get my ironing done today! After a healthy and nutritious filling breakfast!

I just read everyones comments on my first blog entry and i just wanted to say THANK YOU! They've made me assess the way I'm thinking about things and they're definitely going to help me. so thanks again.

Also, there have been a few comments on facebook from you guys. Saying the same sort of stuff, don't be so hard on myself etc.
And you know what, you're right!

Oh, and my lovely husband has taken the car today...which means I have no choice but to use my bike! Which is great really :)

So, here we go!

URGH!!!

why the bleedin heck do i do this to myself?
I was having a great day and then thinking...sod it! its my body blah blah, the usual excuses i make....i wen and ate a very tasty greasy seafood pizza washed down with about 4 pints.

The word WEAK comes to mind.

I loved the pizza, and loved the beer. and loved the crack while chatting away in the club. However, now I think to myself...why? I could have had the same banter with my mates while drinking diet coke. And my hunger would have probably been satisfied with a small portion of chips or something.

So, yea its done now. Do I draw a line and start tomorrow..again? Feel like thats all I say to myself.

Its like im constantly on some sort of see-saw. Up when im finally feeling positive, and then down when I binge or am feeling fat (ooooo swear word that is! lol)
I have Citalopram to help with my anxiety and stress, and minor body dismorphia. I wonder sometimes whether I need more help with this. I always think I'm fine, but weight is such a massive issue in my life. Rediculous right?
Its crazy though, I know in my sane mind that I should be happy with myself and not listen to media pressure etc. But then the crazy bit is constantly thinking about food and how I look.

I know the weight gain is from my honeymoon. A week all inclusive in mexico, followed by a week in vegas...therefore american portions! But I just can't seem to get my head back into the healthy way of thinking.
I'm going to try and get my head around this. I know how to do it, I've done it before for heavens sake!!

Anyway, on a more positive note. Work was good today, I'm feeling a lot more comfortable with my job (only been doing this since january). However, Ive realised today my boss is screwing me over on pay! but i have some great employment law type friends who will help me out that!

Right, its getting late. I should get myself to bed at a reasonable time to try and sort this flamin jet lag out!

xx

A good start....

Woke up late as im still jet lagged, but still managed to get into work before the boss.

Feeling pretty positive about the day ahead. I've decided not to plan too far, and just take each day as it comes. I've done planning a week ahead (food wise) before and I just feel like im putting too much pressure on myself. I've always said its all in the planning, but I've come to the realisation that you can do too much planning!

Not looked in the mirror today. Which I'm going to take as a good thing. Usually I'll spend time looking at myself and finding all my imperfections and wondering how people cant see them when they are so obviously there.

So breakfast was a yummy bowl of sultana bran, i do love that cereal!
I was hoping to ride my bike into work, but my office is the other side of town to the pool I work at...so havent quite sussed out the travel times yet. But i'll get that sorted so i can get back into cycling.

Im doing the Great North Run on sunday, and I'm really nervous. I'm feeling really unfit and overweight, but i'll try my best obviously!
But if anyone feels that they want to sponsor me, please go to my just giving website!

hoprefully these trainers will get me to the finish line!!

Had a filling and healthy lunch of soft cheese on crackerbread with lettuce, a bio yogurt and a diet cola.
Hoping that will keep me going until i leave the pool this evening.

Not an overly interesting blog post today, maybe i'll do one this evening. If im honest, im just procrastinating from work!

If anyoneis looking for a good podcast to listen to, I'm really loving two fit chicks and a microphone http://www.twofitchicks.org/

cheers for listening

My first ever blog

Well, hello world.
I've never had a blog before, and after reading lots of other peoples I thought I'd have a go at my own.

My main reason for it is to keep a track on my journey through the world of weightloss and exercise.
So, as its the first one let me give you some info about me!

My name is Ria. I am 26 years old and have just got married. The meaning behind my blog name: Butterflies (as in the programme with Wendy Craig, where my name is from) and Beers (my main vice when trying to lose weight)

This was Me (on the left) 2007

I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. There are photos of me when I'm a child and I look like a plump little squidge of a child! and as I've grown up my weight just went up and up. I completed a Sports Science degree in 2006. During my time at Uni I was captain of the ladies rowing team, worked out at the gym and enjoyed myself. However, I drank a lot of beer and ate a lot of very unhealthy food.
Once I had graduated I moved in with my boyfriend (now my husband) and some other friends. We all still lived like students, we had a beer fridge in the living room!

Then on 31st October 2007,  was sat at the computer eating a pizza and drinking beer alone. And i thought, 'What the hell are you doing Ria?!"
Within 2 minutes I had found the Weight Watchers website, and found a meeting near me that was happening within 2 hours of me looking.

So off I went to my first ever Weight Watchers meeting. I was very nervous, but the ladies and gentlemen there and the leader were very welcoming and I was soon at ease with the situation. That was until I got on the scales.....

14st 13lb!!!

I was horrified.

So then began my journey.
Over the next 3 years i managed to get my weight down to 11st 5lb. I did this while qualifying as a lifeguard, and then going on to become a gym instructor.

And then the weight started to go back on....and it crept up to just over 13st. I have managed to get the weight back down to under 13st, but i need help

I am now a qualified Personal Trainer...ironic that i struggle so much with me weight and have a terrible relationship with food right?
And this is me on my wedding day (the dress hides a multitude of sins...gotta love wearing black!

So here goes again....
