Well, hello world.
I've never had a blog before, and after reading lots of other peoples I thought I'd have a go at my own.
My main reason for it is to keep a track on my journey through the world of weightloss and exercise.
So, as its the first one let me give you some info about me!
My name is Ria. I am 26 years old and have just got married. The meaning behind my blog name: Butterflies (as in the programme with Wendy Craig, where my name is from) and Beers (my main vice when trying to lose weight)
This was Me (on the left) 2007
I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. There are photos of me when I'm a child and I look like a plump little squidge of a child! and as I've grown up my weight just went up and up. I completed a Sports Science degree in 2006. During my time at Uni I was captain of the ladies rowing team, worked out at the gym and enjoyed myself. However, I drank a lot of beer and ate a lot of very unhealthy food.

Once I had graduated I moved in with my boyfriend (now my husband) and some other friends. We all still lived like students, we had a beer fridge in the living room!
Then on 31st October 2007, was sat at the computer eating a pizza and drinking beer alone. And i thought, 'What the hell are you doing Ria?!"
Within 2 minutes I had found the Weight Watchers website, and found a meeting near me that was happening within 2 hours of me looking.
So off I went to my first ever Weight Watchers meeting. I was very nervous, but the ladies and gentlemen there and the leader were very welcoming and I was soon at ease with the situation. That was until I got on the scales.....
14st 13lb!!!
I was horrified.
So then began my journey.
Over the next 3 years i managed to get my weight down to 11st 5lb. I did this while qualifying as a lifeguard, and then going on to become a gym instructor.
And then the weight started to go back on....and it crept up to just over 13st. I have managed to get the weight back down to under 13st, but i need help
I am now a qualified Personal Trainer...ironic that i struggle so much with me weight and have a terrible relationship with food right?
So here goes again....
Well done on starting your blog. Like you say, it'll be a good reference to look back on and keep track of your progress. I imagine there'll be a few giggles on the way. (Is it too late to mention Legends?!)
ReplyDeletePersonally I think you're doing brilliantly! It wears me out reading your status updates on FB, I need to take a leaf out of your book. Love the Butterflies link, brings back fond childhood memories :-) The beer goes without saying!
Ria you are beautiful young woman and you looked amazing in your weeding dress.
ReplyDeleteI'm am battling weight for the same reason I drink too much wine so perhaps we can encourage each other in our weight loss challenge.
By the way Butterflies was one of my favourite programmes on the telly at the time.
Tammie is named after the film 'Tammy and the Batchelor'. The song Tammy was sung by Debbie Reynolds.xxx
